Why You Should Apply Transformational Leadership

| January 23, 2014 | 0 Comments

Sometimes the leader your company needs is not someone who has all the answers. It is not someone who has a clear-cut vision or a lot of expertise. Sometimes, what you need is a transformational leader, someone with a vision for the good of the company.

Rich Hein explains transformational leadership. He says there are three basic leadership styles: tactical, strategic, and transformational. A tactical leader is someone who solves a straight-forward problem with expertise. A strategic leader is someone with a vision, someone who anticipates the future and predicts specific trends. A transformational leader is the one who makes those changes happen.

All three are needed for a strong organization, but transformational leaders can be overlooked because they don’t always have a predicted outcome. However, they do see when a change needs to take place, and can help a company keep up in a competitive market. They facilitate intellectual stimulation, consider teammates as individuals, inspire motivation, find the greater good, and preserve through conflict. This is not only a person your organization wants to have on their team, but someone they need for the future. You wouldn’t forget to have a strategy or tactics, so don’t forget the transformation.
