CIO skills in most demand: The ability to “helicopter”

| October 21, 2012

Do you know what it is to “helicopter”? Well, think of it as a new term for multi-tasking between the macro and the micro. This article by Christina Torode began with her collection of CIO job ads over the past month. She found that most dealt directly with timeliness in communication, decision making, and hiring. She also noted that most CIO job ads were looking for people who are able to resolve conflict, build trust, and motivate employees. Finally, she found one description mentioning the ability to helicopter, or to put it plainly, to go from “big picture, strategic issues to more granular levels of detail as needed.”
