Filling the talent gap in project management
India’s rise as a project management powerhouse is causing the country to be regarded as a force to be reckoned with. Unlike in the past, India’s workforce is no longer simply an option for outsourcing by major IT industries in the West. Now there is enough of a growing IT structure in the country to make it a direct influence in the IT world as a whole. As this article by Aesha Datta explains, the only direction for India is up:
According to Mr Killough, while India’s current potential in the field of project management is far higher than the West due to the its robust economy; the country is adopting project management practices much later than the US.
Mr Kalady said the Indian PMI community has grown from about 13,000 three to four years back to 30,000 and is growing rapidly as more organisations stress on certification. This group is currently estimated at 600,000 in the US.
So how does this affect your business? Consider what your outsourcing solutions will look like when the Indian IT workforce is more certified (and require more pay to match the qualifications they’ve achieved). As India’s IT workers become more sophisticated, companies in the West must adjust to fit the change.

The deficit of Project Managers in India was caused by the immigration of many of them to the US.
They took the PM jobs of US citizens causing a very High rate of unemployed or underemployed PMP’s in America.
Some global US corporations are also hiring Project Managers to work remote from India.
