IT Is a Baby Boomer
IBM recently celebrated its 100th birthday, and the question is no longer “is IT mature”, but “is IT still IT?” John Parkinson says that IT is fundamentally changing and entering a new age ““ one where rigid control no longer exists, applications are favored over internal teams, and innovation rules the day. This doesn’t mean that what we now know as IT will be disappearing, but it does indicate how remarkably changed the landcape may be in short order. The technologically savvy customer that IT now serves doesn’t view IT as black magic ““ it views IT as a service, and IT itself has to begin viewing IT in the same way.
